Once out of the protection of Resurrection Bay, the seas remained pleasantly calm. The swells were around 4 feet; just enough to make the ride fun. I spent most of this stretch out on the bow of the lower deck, looking south and thinking of the fact that no landmass separated me from Antarctica.

Steve appeared quite relaxed during the entire cruise. He told me we had it much better than the previous day's trip. He said it rained all day, the ceiling was 100 feet, and he had to navigate via radar the entire time.

The huge Bear glacier to the west. It's formed by three separate glaciers up near the Harding Icefield, and you can see where the ice streams grind against each other.
